If you are a drone enthusiast, there is a new toy coming next month for you to play with!

Parrot yesterday announced the Bebop 2, the successor to the first generation Bebop Drone. While the latter can only fly up to a maximum of 12 minutes, the Bebop 2 can now stay in the air for up to 25 minutes! The Bebop 2 can also fly faster with a top of 37 miles per hour compared to 24 for its predecessor.

Although a bigger battery is required to provide extra flight time, Parrot managed to improve the efficiency of the motors and propellers. The increased bulk and power also contributed to more stability if and when there are strong winds.

Aside from these enhancements, the Bebop 2 is pretty much similar in specs as its predecessor; you get a 14-megapixel fish-eye camera that takes photo and 1080p videos with 180-degree field of view. Control of the Bebop 2 is done via the FreeFlight 3 app for iOS and Android.

It will be available for US$550 (~S$782) from 14th December. You also get buy the Bebop 2 in a bundle with the Skycontroller accessory for US$800 (~S$1,138). And if you're planning to purchase one and fly it locally, do take note of the areas which you can and cannot fly it.
