Parallels Desktop 11 now works on OS X El Capitan

Parallels Desktop 11 for Mac, released in August, brought Windows 10 integration and Cortana to the Mac. Now, with the latest build (11.0.2), Parallels 11 brings full support for OS X El Capitan, Apple’s latest version of its desktop OS.

Instead of having to dual-boot into Windows, Parallels lets you run Windows on top of your Mac desktop, so you can continue using the Mac apps you know and love side by side with Windows. Parallels lets you copy and paste documents, files and data between Mac and Windows apps, so you can work faster and easier without having to reboot.

Parallels 11 also brings Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana, to the Mac, and you’ll only have to change your Windows’ region settings to make her (it?) work (more on that here).

Parallels 11 doesn’t just bring new Windows features to the Mac, it also comes with key performance improvements:

  • Windows launch and shutdown is up to 50 percent faster
  • File operations inside of Windows are improved by up to 20 percent
  • Virtual machine suspend is up to 20 percent faster
  • Travel Mode can increase battery life up to 25 percent
  • Improved network performance
