The new CX850 series will also be the first TVs to be powered by the Firefox OS.

At CES 2015, Panasonic has just announced its new flagship CX850 4K UHD TV series. The new series will feature two models - the 65-inch TC-65CX850U and the 55-inch TC-55CX850U - and will feature enhanced color technologies such as Studio Master Drive, Local Dimming Pro and Super Bright Panel.

The end result is that these TVs are capable of producing a color range with the accuracy comparable to studio reference monitors. The 65-inch TC-65CX850U will be able to reproduce 98% of the DCI Color Space, whereas the 55-inch TC-55CX850U will cover a slightly less 90%. DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) is joint venture of major movie studios that establishes standards for digital cinema systems. Its members include Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Walt Disney.

The new CX850 series TVs would also be the first TVs in the market to employ the Firefox OS for Smart TV functionality. Panasonic also announced that all its Life+Screen TVs in 2015 will be powered by the Firefox OS. Additionally Panasonic also announced that it will work with Mozilla to promote Firefox OS.

Details regarding pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed.
