Panasonic’s latest Toughbook CF-20 is more versatile than ever

Panasonic has just announced the launch of the Toughbook CF-20, the world’s first fully rugged detachable tablet. Much like the HP Elite x2 and the Acer Switch Alpha 12, the Toughbook CF-20 is able to go from tablet to laptop in a flash.

It will be the first Toughbook ship with Windows 10 Pro, and the first to get Intel’s 6th Generation Intel Core vPro processor technology, as it comes with a Intel Core m5-6Y57 vPro processor (4MB cache, 1.1GHz up to 2.8 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology). It will also sport an Intel HD Graphics 515 card, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD by default.

So light, you can even hang it by its handle.

The Toughbook CF-20 comes equipped with an 8MP documentation rear camera, and a 2MP webcam and stereo microphones that you can use for remote web conferences if you get the 4G LTE option. There’s also an option for the latest U-Blox 8 GPS to be included, thus allowing for precise navigation even in the most remote of areas.

Lighter than before but still as tough as ever, the Toughbook CF-20 has a IP65 and MIL-STD 810G rated design, and weighs just 1.76kg in notebook mode, or 950g as a tablet, with keys that 16% larger than the previous generation. Hot swap capabilities mean you can switch out batteries without having to shut down, and there’s even an integrated handle for easier carrying.

The Toughbook CF-20 has keys that are 16% larger than before.

The device will also be using the latest IPS panel technology on its 10.1”, multi-touch WUXGA screen (1920x1200). This is able to recognize up to 10 fingers, and can even be operated with gloves. It is able to go up to brightness levels of 800cd/m² so you’ll have no issues viewing the screen even in bright sunlight, and there’s support for an optional IP55 Digitizer pen that allows for better accuracy with writing or drawing.

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-20 notebook comes with a standard 3 year warranty and is available now from S$5,178.
