Panasonic Extends Line of Rugged Mobile Computers with Two New Toughbooks
Panasonic has announced the Toughbook CF-AX2, its lightest business rugged convertible Windows 8 Pro Ultrabook, and the Toughbook CF-C2, its first semi-rugged Windows 8 convertible PC.
Ideal for mobile sales workforce, merchandisers, and executives, the Toughbook CF-AX2 can be used as either a screen tablet, or an Ultrabook. With a 360-degree Flip-Over hinge design, the Ultrabook weighs at just 1.15kg (standard model) and measures just 18mm thick. Capable of withstanding drops of up to 76cm in depth and 100kgf pressure on the screen, the device comes with a 11.6-inch capacitive HD display, 10-finger multi-touch, anti-glare film, and various sensors. Optimized for the Windows 8 Pro platform, it runs on an Intel Ivy Bridge processor and has a 8-hour battery life with hot swappable function for all day mobile computing.
Designed for healthcare professionals, aviation technicians, and automotive engineers, the Toughbook CF-C2 runs on the Windows 8 Pro OS. The capacitive 5-finger multi-touch display can be used both in tablet and clamshell mode as the screen remains rigid to the touch due to its rugged enhanced triple hinge. Its 12.5-inch HD screen integrates IPS technology, allowing for extra wide viewing angles, high contrast ratio, and 500-nit brightness with a Panasonic anti-reflection layer. In addition to a water resistant keyboard and touchpad, it has the ability to withstand drops of up to 76cm in depth. The Toughbook also comes with an ergonomic and removable, triangular hands-free strap, so users can hold it easily and operate it with one-hand in any position. Piloting on an Intel Ivy Bridge processor with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, it has a bridge battery, which can be configured to meet different needs, while the main battery can be changed without powering down the device.
The Panasonic CF-AX2 will be available starting 7 March 2013, while the Toughbook CF-C2 is available immediately, at Newstead Technologies.
