Over 100 Million Samsung Galaxy S Phones Sold Since May 2010
Samsung is on a roll recently. Having announced global sales of five million Galaxy Note II and 30 million Galaxy S III units in November, the Korean company states that its entire line of Galaxy S smartphone has a total sales of over 100 million units. This is considered very impressive if you take into account the fact that the first Galaxy S phone was only launched in May 2010.
The sales momentum actually picked up from the Galaxy S II. Samsung first announced that its Galaxy S II had achieved global sales of three million units in July 2011. Weeks later, Information Week reported that Samsung had sold over five million units in 85 days. Two months later, Samsung released official sales statistics which revealed that the Galaxy S II had sold over 10 million units worldwide.
Till date, Samsung claims that the Galaxy S II has hit sales over 40 million units in just 20 months. Its successor, the Galaxy S III experiences a higher rate of market success. It has sold 30 million units in five months, and 40 million in 7 months. Currently, Samsung sees an average daily sales of 190,000 units of the Galaxy S III.
With the recent launch of the Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S III mini, it is almost certain that Samsung will continue to strengthen its position as the world's biggest phone manufacturer.
