Optoma Ups the Ante with High Lumen LED Pico and Mobile Projectors

Optoma showcased three LED-based projectors today at the CES Unveiled 2012 event. With vastly improved brightness for brighter and larger image projection, these new mobile projectors will meet the needs of most business user who wants a highly portable projector as well as the performance to get the job done.

For the pico projector range, Optoma introduced the new PK320 which is capable of delivering images of up to 150-inches in WGA screen format through its improved 100 lumen light engine. It comes with 2GB of internal memory, a microSD slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage, and a built-in Office Viewer software that allows you to open common Word, Excel, Powerpoint and even Adobe PDF files for PC-free operation. It can also playback various media files in MOV, AVI, 3GP, MP4 and WMV formats.

The PK320 comes in a compact 4.7” x 1.2” x 2.7” chassis and it comes with an internal battery. When plugged into the mains, the PK320 can project at 100 lumen at a contrast ratio of 3000:1. When running off battery, it will automatically switch to its 25 lumen mode to enable the battery to last for about an hour. The PK320 features a full complement of I/O ports, including mini HDMI, a port for VGA, an input for composite video and audio, micro USB, and 3.5 mm stereo out.

The PK320 is available now and has an end-user price of US$449.

For something more powerful and yet portable, the new ML300 mobile projector comes in a tiny 7.2” x 1.8” x 4.4” package and weighing no more than 1.4lb. Using LED as light source, the ML300 is capable of delivering 300 lumen of brightness with 3000:1 contrast ratio at WXGA (1280x800) resolution. In terms of features, it also comes with 2GB of internal memory, a microSD slot for up to 32GB of storage expansion, integrated Office Viewer software for PC-free operation and support for various media files. Also available now, the ML300 will retail at US$499.

Those who crave an even more powerful mobile projector, Optoma will introduce the ML500, a 500 lumen model. The ML500 will weigh less than 2.5 lbs. and measure slightly larger than the ML300 at 8.7” x 1.7” x 6.7’”. It will be available later this year in September and priced at US$699.
