Oppo unveils 5.0-inch R7 and 6.0-inch R7 Plus, global availability in mid June
After weeks of leaks and teasers, Chinese phone maker Oppo today unveiled a pair of new smartphones, the R7 and R7 Plus at a launch event in Beijing.
The R7 sports a 5.0-inch Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core (quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 + quad-core 1.0 GHz) processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
Other specs include a microSD memory card slot (doubles as a second SIM card slot, a 2,320mAh battery, a 13-megapixel rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2, phase detection and a single LED flash. It measures 143 x 71 x 6.3 mm and weighs 147g.
As the name suggests, the R7 Plus comes with a bigger 6.0-inch Full-HD AMOLED display. It also ships with more internal storage space at 32GB, more powerful imaging hardware (laser autofocus and a dual-LED flash), a bigger 4,100mAh battery and a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Unlike the R7, the R7 Plus uses on-screen navigation keys.The rest of its specs remain the same as the R7. In terms of physical dimensions, the R7 Plus measures 158 x 82 x 7.75 mm and weighs 203g.
Both the R7 and R7 Plus supports VOOC charging technology, CAT 4 LTE support, ColorOS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Oppo states that both phones will be available for purchase in China starting tomorrow while an international launch is scheduled for the middle of June. The R7 has a retail price of 2,499 yuan (~S$538) while the R7 Plus costs 2,999 yuan (~S$646).
