Oppo R11 smartphone available in retaill from 1st July

Oppo has announced that the Oppo R11, the first smartphone powered by Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, will be launching in Singapore on 1st July, with pre-orders starting on 22nd June. The phone will be available at Oppo's own retail store at Suntec City, as well as M1, Singtel, and StarHub. The larger Oppo R11 Plus will not be launching in Singapore until later in the year. Pricing will be announced on Thursday.

The R11 has a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 4GB RAM and a 3,000mAh battery. On the rear of the phone is a dual camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel f/1.7 lens and a secondary 20-megapixel f/2.6 telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.

The phone is the first available running on Qualcomm's new mid-range Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, paired with 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage space (with microSD support via a hybrid dual-SIM card slot). The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 OS with Oppo's ColorOS 3.1.

As the first phone available with the Snapdragon 660, the R11 is also the first to utilize Qualcomm's 14-bit premium Spectra 160 ISP (image signal processor), which Oppo says enables smooth optical zoom, fast autofocus and superior low light photography.

Along with the Spectra 160, the R11 is the first to use Qualcomm's new HVX (Hexagon Vector Extensions) technology, which uses a co-processing unit to drive high-performance, low-power image processing. According to Oppo, HVX supports quicker, parallel processing of matrix image data with less power consumption, to achieve sharper and brighter effects for images captured.

The phone will retail for S$699.

While we assess the phone for a full review, here's our hands-on experience from MWC 2017 Shanghai that just concluded.
