Shenzhen-based OnePlus today announced its first flagship smartphone, the One.

Touted as the "2014 flagship killer", the OnePlus One comes with an impressive list of specs that can put it on-par with many of the existing Android flagship smartphones. It sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) IPS display which is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Running under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.5GHz processor, 3GB RAM and CyanogenMod 11S based on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is no slouch in the imaging department as the One is equipped with a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX 24 rear camera sensor with 6 lenses, f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording.

The OnePlus One measures 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9mm and weighs 162g. Other specs include a non-removable 3,100mAh battery, 4G connectivity (1800MHz and 2600MHz are among the 7 LTE bands supported), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with GLONASS and 16/64GB storage options with no memory card slot.

It will initially be available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the U.S and the U.K. The 16GB white model retails for US$299 while the 64GB black model is priced at US$349.

The first 100 OnePlus Ones will be available through the OnePlus Phone Smash, starting April 25th. OnePlus fans can go to oneplus.net/smash to apply to smash their current phone in exchange for a OnePlus One. 100 lucky applicants will get the very first 100 OnePlus Ones for just $1 as well as the ability to invite their friends to buy the OnePlus One.

OnePlus is founded by Pete Lau, who was formerly the vice president at Oppo. He resigned from Oppo in November 2013 and started OnePlus with a mission to create his dream smartphone - one that combines the latest hardware with the best design.
