OnePlus to merge Hydrogen and Oxygen OS for faster software updates

 The OnePlus 3.

Of all the Android vendors, OnePlus has been one of the few brands to deliver regular software updates for its devices even though it has two separate platforms - OxygenOS for markets outside China and HydrogenOS for the Chinese market - to manage.

Moving forward, the company plans to speed up the pace of software updates by merging both platforms into one. OnePlus reportedly broke the news to XDA that it is actively merging the HydrogenOS and OxygenOS into a single cohesive OS. Its recently announced OxygenOS 3.5 Community Build will be the backbone of its future efforts.

OnePlus's representative - “The main benefit of combining our team resources is to speed up software updates. We know we have some room to continue improving there, and this is an important step in the right direction.”

By having one single platform, OnePlus is adopting the same strategy as what Apple has always been doing with iOS.
