The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor may be plagued by overheating issues, but OnePlus has assured consumers that its upcoming flagship smartphone will not be affected and will be "cooler than ever".

According to OnePlus, the company has taken "all the necessary precautions and beyond" to ensure that overheating does not happen in its OnePlus 2 smartphone. It has worked closely with Qualcomm's engineers to develop an improved version of the Snapdragon 810 chipset which is known as v2.1. Some of the measures that it has taken include:

  • layering thermal gel and graphite across different sections of the phone to dissipate heat evenly
  • rigorous testing to ensure that the OnePlus 2 meets the industry standard for phone temperature even after hours of usage
  • optimizing the OxygenOS to work seamlessly with the Snapdragon 810

OnePlus also took the opportunity to assure consumers that the Snapdragon 810 is still the best mobile processor in the market. Calling it the "ultimate connected computer processor”, OnePlus promises the OnePlus 2 will deliver "better video, a quicker camera, and an unbelievable gaming experience".

As with the OnePlus One, the company will continue to reveal the specs piece by piece in the lead up to its official launch date which is rumored to be in July.
