Olympus Unveils Stylus Tough TG-3 and Stylus SH-1 Cameras

Olympus has announced its new flagship Tough model, the Stylus Tough TG-3, which features an F2.0 super bright lens and macro photography features that enable close-up shots, and its premium big zoom Stylus SH-1, that combines a 24x aspherical zoom lens with a 5-axis image stabilization in a compact camera.

Stylus Tough TG-3

Redesigned to be more ergonomic and comfortable as compared to previous models, the Stylus TG-3 comes with a top of camera zoom control lever and a new sculpted grip. The new bayonet lens ring has been rebuilt for improved strength and fit, and even enhances underwater visibility of the camera.

Equipped with the 4x Olympus super bright zoom lens with a wide 25-100mm range, the Tough camera's F2.0 brightness enables low-light photography without flash for more lifelike shots and reduced camera shake. Utilizing Olympus's aspherical optical technology, the TG-3's new VMS (Variable Macro System) offers a range of close-up capabilities, with five macro-modes allowing for viewing and photography of the natural world that cannot be easily seen with the naked eye such as insects, leaf patterns, and even snowflake crystals.

Waterproof to 15m, drop-proof to 2.1m, freeze-proof to -10°C, and crush-proof to 100kgf, its 44.4x display magnification in the Microscope Mode lets you see a tiny scratch on a coin enlarged 44 times on the LCD screen. The camera also delivers built-in focus-stacking, focus bracketing, and underwater macro features.

You'll be able to see the LiveView from your camera on your smartphone's screen for selfies, or capture nature subjects with a simply touch on your phone from a distance, via the built-in Wi-Fi and the free Olympus OI.Share app (iOS/Android). Share your pictures and movies to social platforms through wireless transfer. The built-in GPS is now more accurate with the new GLONASS and QZSS support.

Olympus’ Image Track smartphone app lets you conveniently pre-load satellite data for reduced lock-in time. Its GPS data is easily compatible with a wide range of popular geo-capable photo apps. Built-in manometer and barometer provides depth and altitude information, and the E-Compass further enhances outdoor use.

Stylus SH-1

Offering a compact zoom lens with a 24x magnification, it enables shooting of faraway sports, landscapes, and travel scenes, with its 24mm wide-angle setting to the super-long 600mm telephoto range. Textured leatherette wrap around a slim, defined brushed-aluminium body, the incorporated Olympus' lens technology features high-performance glass materials including exotic ED-type aspherical, and Dual Super aspherical lens elements, help ensure sharp photos, while 5-Axis Image Stabilization uses technology from the flagship OM-D E-M1 interchangeable lens camera to provide camera handling confidence.

Like the TG-3, you can remotely see the LiveView from the camera on your smartphone's screen via the built-in Wi-Fi function and Olympus OI.Share app, and share them immediately on social websites with wireless picture and video transfer to your phone or tablet. You can even encode GPS information from your smartphone to pictures captured with the SH-1 for easy location recall or geo-enabled picture management.
