Olympus Announces Two New M.Zuiko Lenses

Olympus has added the M.Zuiko Digital 25mm F1.8 lens to its M.Zuiko Premium series, and expanded its M.Zuiko series to include the M.Zuiko Digital Ed 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ lens.

M.Zuiko Digital 25mm F1.8 (35mm equivalent: 50mm)

This compact and lightweight lens can shoot up to 25cm away for close-up photography, with a maximum magnification factor of 0.24x at 35mm equivalent (0.12x) that's able to fit a postcard sized shot (A6 equivalent) in the screen full size. By combining this lens with the separately-sold Macro Conversion Lens MCON-P02, close-up shooting up to 17cm away is possible, for easy macro photography at a maximum shooting magnification of 0.436x at 35mm equivalent (0.218x). It's also equipped with the MSC (Movie & Still Compatible) mechanism inner focusing system that makes it ideal for capturing still images and movies in quiet scenes.

M.Zuiko Digital Ed 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ

Currently the most compact electronic pancake zoom lens in the M.Zuiko series, the M.Zuiko Digital Ed 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ is a standard 3x zoom lens which covers an equivalent focal range of 28-84mm (35mm equivalent). It's also stocked with the MSC mechanism so speedy and silent focusing is possible when used with a PEN or OM-D series camera. Measuring 22.5mm thick and weighing 93g, a Super HR lens, ED lens, and three aspherical lenses were effectively used for sharpness that extends not only from the centre, but all the way to the edges of the image.

The closest shooting distance of the M.Zuiko Digital Ed 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ at wide angle is 20cm, and 25cm at telephoto, making it capable of taking even better close-up shots than the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 IIR. The maximum shooting magnification of 0.45x equivalent (35mm conversion) (0.225x) makes it the biggest in the standard zoom class.
