Olympus announces new 40-150 f2.8 lens, and the relaunch of the OM-D E-M1 in silver
The OM-D E-M1 has been quite a popular camera since its launch, thanks largely to a combination of a user-friendly layout, superb image quality, and excellent portability. And now, Olympus looks to launch a new silver color option that comes with second generation firmware installed that will add to the E-M1’s capabilities by enabling the following:
- Tethered shooting - A first for OM-D cameras, the E-M1 will gain the ability to be tethered to a computer for direct image transfer, remote camera control, and remote live viewing.
- Digital perspective control - Enables the capture of perspective corrected images that are required in architecture, interior, studio still-life and artwork photography.
- Live Composite - Enables light-painting in bright ambient lighting and pitch black backgrounds in fireworks photographs; impossible with normal long-exposure photography.
- mproved viewfinder display lag of 16ms
Existing E-M1 users won’t miss out on these new features though, as the firmware update will enable these on their cameras once it is launched towards the end of September.
Also launched, is a M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO professional telephoto zoom lens, which boasts high optical performance in a weatherproof lens that’s built to take the elements.
The silver E-M1 and M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO will be available from all authorized Olympus retailers from November and end November 2014 respectively, but pricing information has yet to be released.
