Apart from consumer drives like the Vector 180 and Vertex 460, OCZ also creates storage drives for enterprise applications. And the company has just announced its new NVMe compliant Z-Drive 6000 PCIe SSD.

With prices of SSDs steadily declining and adoption rates on a rise, the NVMe protocol was established to allow users to get the most of their drives. Briefly put, it increases parallelism and reduces latency of the drives, thus improving overall performance.

Hence, OCZ's new Z-Drive 6000 series PCIe SSD leverages on the benefits of both NVMe and the faster PCIe interface to deliver the best performance to its enterprise users. The Z-Drive 6000 series will be made up of three distinct models and will also be available in various capacities and endurance ratings.

The Z-Drive 6000 SFF Series for read-intensive applications - supports 2.5-inch small form factor (SFF) and usable capacities of 800GB, 1.6TB and 3.2TB. Best-in class performance includes sequential read performance up to 2,900 MB/s; sequential write performance up to 1,900 MB/s, random read performance up to 700K IOPS and random write performance up to 160K IOPS. Includes lowest latencies of 25µs (write) and 80µs (read).

The Z-Drive 6300 SFF Series for mixed workload applications - supports 2.5-inch SFF and usable capacities of 800GB, 1.6TB, 3.2TB and 6.4TB. World class performance includes sequential read performance up to 2,900 MB/s, sequential write performance up to 1,400 MB/s, random read performance up to 700K IOPS and random write performance up to 120K IOPS. Includes lowest latencies of 30µs (write) and 80µs (read).

The Z-Drive 6300 AIC Series
for mixed workload applications - supports Half-Height/Half-Length (HHHL) add-in card form factors and usable capacities of 800GB, 1.6TB, 3.2TB and 6.4TB.

The drives are currently being sampled with key partners and customers and are expected to be publicly available from the second quarter of this year onwards.
