NZXT Cryo V60 'Bladeless Fan' Notebook Cooler Revealed

The Dyson fan inspired Cryo V60 notebook cooler uses vortex fans and directs air through circular channels within the chassis to generate the required air flow to cool a notebook via a thin air outlet ring.

Marketed as a ‘bladeless fan’ designed notebooks cooler, it’s just a term to reinforce the fact that there isn’t a direct fan blowing or pulling air behind the notebook in question to be cooled.

The vortex fan design based Cryo V60 from NZXT can accommodate up to 15.6-inch notebooks with ease.

Features include an integrated fan speed controller (1000 or 500RPM setting) and a USB charging dock to provide power to two mobile devices. A third USB port connects with its host notebook to draw power.

The Cryo V60 is still undergoing design finalization, so it remains to be seen how effective this design is for notebooks. The Cryo V60 is rather slim and light, a useful trait if you intend to pack it for travel. Made entirely from plastic, it does look and feel cheap at the moment, likely because of its glossy finish. Hopefully this will improve in the final production model. Perhaps the black edition would fare better than this white version on showcase.

One concern we’ve at the moment is the rather smooth plastic base which may not bode well to keep a notebook from fidgeting around when in use. Again, we’ll have to wait to see the final production edition and we’ll be sure to evaluate this interesting notebook cooler when it’s out in retail soon.

Another interesting but conventionally designed notebook cooler is the NZXT Cryo E40 which was recently launched.
