NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is so fast it even outperforms a Titan X!

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

As expected, NVIDIA has just announced its newest graphics card - the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti - at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

In terms of performance and specifications, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be significantly more powerful than the GeForce GTX 1080 and will even outperform the insane Titan X.

The new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is based on NVIDIA’s awesome Pascal architecture and features 3,584 CUDA cores and a whopping 11GB of GDDR5X memory. Base GPU clock speed is 1,582MHz, which can be easily boosted to up to 1,600MHz and on to a maximum of around 2,000MHz.

An important improvement to the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is in the memory department. The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will ship with super-fast GDDR5X memory running at 11,000MHz . Coupled with the wider 352-bit memory bus interface, this gives the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti a higher memory bandwidth of 484GB/s - marginally faster than the Titan X.

According to NVIDIA, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will offer, on average, about 35% better performance as compared to the regular GeForce GTX 1080.

The new card comes with three DisplayPort 1.4 ports and a single HDMI 2.0b port. No dual-link DVI, sorry.

This table belows summarizes the specifications of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti and shows how it compares against the GeForce GTX 1080 and the Titan X.

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti also features an uprated power supply featuring a 7-phase dual FETs and 14 dual FETs in total.

The cooler on the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti also comes with an improved cooler that is more efficient and cooler. On average, at any given temperature, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be about 2.5dB quieter. In addition, at any given dB rating, the new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be 5 degrees Celsius cooler.

Like the rest of NVIDIA's GeForce 10 series lineup, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition card will be available first, and will go on sale next week and will be priced at US$699 (~S$981).

No word yet on when custom versions of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti will be available from NVIDIA's add-in card partners.
