NVIDIA's Logan Tegra Mobile Kepler GPU 1.5X More Powerful Than Sony Playstation 3

NVIDIA has revealed some of the capabilities of its new Mobile Kepler GPU, a 192-core GPU which will be part of its next-gen Logan Tegra SoC, first unveiled at GTC 2013.

Mobile Kepler (as of now) is the only mobile GPU that will support OpenGL 4.4, DX11, CUDA 5.0 and tessellation. Impressively, NVIDIA claims that despite this, it will remain very power efficient, consuming just 2W of power - according to NVIDIA, just one third of the power consumption of Apple's iPad (2012) PowerVR SGX 554MP4 GPU.

NVIDIA showed a chart showing the relative horsepower of Mobile Kepler compared to other devices. Amazingly, NVIDIA boasts that mobile Kepler has about 1.5X more graphical horsepower than a Sony Playstation 3, and about 4X more power than Apple's iPad (2012).

The first mobile devices utilizing the Logan Tegra SoC and Mobile Kepler GPU are due out in the market in the first half of 2014.
