NVIDIA Announces PhysX Support for Microsoft Xbox One

After the announcement of the next generation console from Microsoft, the Xbox One, NVIDIA has revealed that the device will come with support for its popular NVIDIA PhysX and NVIDIA APEX software development kits.

The two SDKs together provide solutions for collision detection and simulation of rigid bodies, clothing, fluids, particle systems and much more. Both PhysX and APEX have been previously used on platforms such as PCs and the older iteration of consoles.

NVIDIA PhysX technology in particular is an important tool for game developers to implement realistic and lifelike effects into interactive entertainment titles. NVIDIA APEX technology on the other hand is required for creating intricate physics-enabled environments.

With the new 8 core processor on the Xbox One and the host of next generation features the console boasts, it will be interesting to see how game developers can utilize the support for PhysX and APEX to bring about the next wave of games.
