NVIDIA Add-in Manufacturers Announce GeForce GT 640 Graphics Cards

Add-in card partners have extended their GeForce GT 600 series with their GeForce GT 640 graphics cards.

Adopting NVIDIA's Kepler architecture, the cards come with support for DX11, Blu-ray 3D, and is packed with NVIDIA technologies including (but not limited to) Adaptive Vertical Sync and FXAA.

ASUS GT640-2GD3

Palit GeForce GT 640

Zotac GeForce GT 640

Processor cores 384
Core clock speed 901MHz 900MHz 900MHz
Memory clock speed 1782MHz
Memory 2GB DDR3 1GB / 2GB DDR3 (2 models) 2GB DDR3
Memory interface 128-bit
Others ASUS Super Alloy Power technology - TrackMania 2 Canyon 3-Day Game Pass included

Unlike some earlier reports, these cards will be using the GK107 GPU, which is a true Kepler architecture based entry-level GPU. While this very same GT 640 series also enlists the older GF116 Fermi based part (only has 144 stream processors), fortunately these are relegated to OEM-only parts. Still, it would be wise to pay more attention to the specs when you do chance upon an extremely inexpensive GeForce GT 640 graphics card.
