A self-driving vehicle belonging to nuTonomy was involved in a “minor incident” at Biopolis Drive yesterday morning, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has said in a Facebook post. The autonomous vehicle startup partnered with Grab last month to enable hailing of its self-driving cars from the Grab app in a small trial in one-north.

The driverless car reportedly collided “at a low speed” with a truck, which caused damage to both vehicles. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, and nuTonomy has since said that the car was traveling with two engineers on board but was not carrying any passengers. It added that it was working with the Singapore Traffic Police and LTA to investigate the incident, and was looking into the matter itself as well.

There have already been several incidents involving Google’s self-driving cars in the US, but this is the first report of an accident involving an autonomous vehicle in Singapore, which has welcomed companies working on self-driving technology with open arms.

Back in August, a new center for the testing and research of autonomous vehicles was launched at JTC’s CleanTech Park just outside NTU. UK-based Delphi Automotive Systems also has an agreement with the LTA to provide it with a fleet of self-driving cars, along with the software for an on-demand mobility program.
