Now Samsung is suing Huawei over patent infringements

Huawei's Mate 8 is said to infringe on several of Samsung's patents

The war between Samsung and Huawei rages on as Samsung is now suing Huawei over six patent infringements in China.

The suit marks the latest battle in the fight between the two companies, which started back in May when Huawei accused Samsung of infringing on "several of its cellular communications and software inventions"

Earlier this month, Huawei again accused Samsung of infringing on its patents, claiming a "significant amount of evidence through the purchase of a Galaxy S7, S7 edge and J5 to prove that these handsets infringe on another patent."

Apparently, Samsung has had enough, as the South Korean firm is now suing Huawei in a Beijing court. A Samsung spokesperson told Reuters, "Despite our best efforts to resolve this matter amicably, it has regrettably become necessary to take legal action in order to defend our intellectual property."

Samsung is said to be claiming 161 million yuan (~S$32.7 million) in damages and has also asked the court to halt the sales of several devices that reputedly infringe on its patents, including Huawei's Mate 8 smartphone.

Huawei has responded in a statement, saying it has not received a "formal complaint" but would defend itself as necessary.
