Nook Color Released with LCD Display

The rumors of a color version of Barnes & Noble's Nook ebook reader turned out to be accurate, as the retailer has launched the Nook Color, which comes with a 7-inch color touchscreen complete with Android based apps included, like a web browser. In fact, at US$249, it could be the budget Android tablet you're looking for.

PC Magazine - Barnes & Noble on Tuesday launched the Nook Color, the retailer's first full-color, Android-based, touch screen e-reader. Customers can pre-order the Nook Color on the Barnes & Noble Web site now and in stores tomorrow for $249. The company will start shipping around Nov. 19. "Nook Color delivers digital books, magazines, newspapers and children's books in immersive, gorgeous color, all in one thin and highly portable device," the company said in a statement.
