Nokia Releasing EOS PureView Windows Phone Later This Year

How will the Nokia EOS PureView Windows Phone device look like? Seen here is the first PureView device, the Nokia 808.

The Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia Lumia 920 is known for its superior image quality in low light conditions, but it lacks the jaw-dropping camera capabilities of the Nokia 808 PureView which runs on Belle OS. Will Nokia be making a true PureView Windows Phone device?

According to The Verge, sources familiar with Nokia's plans have asserted that such a device is coming later this year. The device is apparently given the codename EOS, and will incorporate the same sensor as the Nokia 808 PureView. As such, the EOS device is most likely to be a high-end Lumia model.

The Verge reported in early January that Nokia will be switching to aluminum for at least one of its high-end models for 2013. Another device, codenamed Catwalk, is said to be thinner and lighter than the Lumia 920.

Based on the positive sales numbers reported by Nokia on its Lumia 920, it is likely that Nokia will be leveraging its PureView imaging technology to boost its portfolio of Windows Phone Lumia devices and gain traction in a market dominated by Apple iPhones and Samsung devices.
