Nikon launches their 2016 Spring Coolpix range of compact cameras

Four brand new compact cameras are coming your way and this year Nikon has added always-on smartphone connectivity so that it will only take you a single tap to get your images out to social media, which means ever snap becomes a social moment.

Coolpix B700

The Coolpix B700 is built to provide extreme versatility in a compact package, with a 60x optical zoom that can be doubled to 120x with Nikon’s Dynamic Fine Zoom feature. The camera is powered by a 20.3MP BSI CMOS sensor, that captures great detail and color both in the day and at night.

Nikkor optics are used for optimal image quality, as the compact camera’s lens actually incorporates a Super Extra-Low Dispersion glass element that reduces chromatic aberration greatly and maintains image quality throughout the zoom range.

Autofocus performance is also greatly improved, thanks to inclusion of a pre-focus function that enables the camera to acquire focus in approximately 0.09s. Enhanced Vibration Reduction (VR) now compensates for up to 5.0 stops of shutter speed, and additional controls to aid with composition while using the high powered zoom lens are available by way of dedicated Snap-back Zoom and Side Zoom control buttons.

Snap-back Zoom shifts the zoom position to wide-angle for a broader field of view so you can recompose your image, while Side Zoom Control also you users to control zooming while holding the lens barrel securely, thus preventing camera shake.

In terms of movie recording capabilities, the Coolpix B700 also gains an upgrade, as it is able to capture movies with stereo sound in up to 3840x2160 30p (Ultra High-Definition). HDMI support allows you to playback your videos directly to a television, and there’s now a “Superlapse” movie function that pulls frames out of your captured movie clips and stitches them into 30 or 25 fps fast-motion movies.

The Nikon Coolpix B700 comes in black and red.

Coolpix B500

Another high power zoom offering, the Coolpix B500 offers 40x Optical Zoom (80x Dynamic Fine Zoom) in an even more compact body. It’s powered by a 16.0 MP BSI CMOS sensor, and has a VR system that compensates for up to 3.0 stops of shutter speed, allowing you to use the camera in a greater range of shooting scenarios.

The Coolpix B500 also has dedicated Snap-back Zoom and Side Zoom control buttons, and gains a new mode dial that allows you to easily switch between 10 of the camera’s most frequently used functions (like Scene Auto Selector, Smart Portrait Mode and Backlighting).

The Nikon Coolpix B500 comes in red, black and plum.

Coolpix A900

A pocket sized camera for travelers who want the reach without the bulk. It features a high performance Nikkor lens that has 35x Optical zoom that’s doubled with the Dynamic Fine Zoom feature, and has a close focusing distance of just 1cm, allowing for great versatility.

It has a 20.3MP BSI CMOS sensor, and a high performance VR system that compensates for up to 4.0 stops of shutter speed, allowing you to work in lowlight conditions. The camera actually implements both Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction (VR) and electronic VR to create sharp images when on the move, and so complements the long zoom lens perfectly.

Snap-back Zoom is again available with this camera for easier composition of your photographs, and the Coolpix A900 has dedicated Mode and Command dials to allow for easy adjustments of shooting mode or activation of options like shifting the autofocus area.

4K UHD video recording in stereo is an option with this camera, as it records at up to 3840x2160/30p.  It too has the ability to make Superlapse videos, and the camera has a 4-axis Hybrid VR system to reduce camera shake while recording video.

The Nikon Coolpix A900 will be available in black and silver.

Coolpix A300

Finally, the Coolpix A300 is a chic, colorful camera housed in a premium aluminum body. It has an 8x optical zoom (16x Dynamic Fine Zoom) lens that goes up to 25mm (35mm format equivalent) on the wide end, and a focus distance of approximately 2cm for macro photography.

It’s powered by a 20.1 MP sensor that’s matched with a VR system capable of providing up to 3.0 stops of compensation. Target Finding autofocus (AF) helps to ensure your subject is always in focus. The Coolpix A300 captures movies in up to 720/30p and comes with a 4-axis Hybrid VR system to reduce camera shake.

During shooting, a Scene Auto Selector automatically identifies the optimum camera configuration for up to 10 scenes in various conditions, from backlit spaces, to portraits at night. Panorama Assist allows for easy in-camera panoramas, and Smart Portrait Mode and Glamour Retouch give you a multitude of retouching options during shooting and playback.

The Coolpix A300 comes in red, black, silver, pink and decorative red.

All four cameras will be available in April 2016, but pricing information has yet to be released.
