Nikon Announces New Coolpix Cameras

Coolpix for Spring

In addition to the D3300, Nikon has also announced four new Coolpix cameras: the S6700, the S2800, the L830 and the L330.

Coolpix S6700

The Coolpix S6700 has 10x optical zoom with a 20.1-megapixel sensor. It also features Nikon’s new Dynamic Fine Zoom feature, which lets users zoom further without an obvious degree of image deterioration when compared to standard digital zoom. The camera also comes with four-axis vibration reduction to aid with shooting at longer focal lengths. The S6700 will come in black or red.

Coolpix S2800

The Coolpix S2800 has 5x optical zoom and a 20.1-megapixel sensor in a body that’s no thicker than 20mm. Aimed at the casual shooter, the S2800 comes with an automatic scene detector so there’s no need to worry about the camera’s settings when shooting. The S2800 comes in five colors: silver, black, red, pink and purple.

Coolpix L830 and L330

Both the Coolpix L830 and L330 are bridge-type superzoom cameras, with designs similar to smaller DSLR cameras. The L830 has an impressive 34x optical zoom and 68x Dynamic Fine Zoom. It can also shoot macro as close as 1cm away from the subject.

The L830 also comes with a 16.0-megapixel sensor and a 921k-dot tilting LCD monitor on the rear. The camera also has five-axis vibration reduction to aid with shooting at longer focal lengths. The L830 will come in black, red or plum.

The L330 is the more affordable superzoom among the new releases, with 26x optical zoom and a 20.2-megapixel CCD sensor. It also has a 3-inch HVGA rear display and runs on four AA lithium batteries instead of the usual rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The L330 is only available in black.

Prices of all the cameras have not been announced yet, though the cameras are expected to be available in February.
