Another retailer has jumped onto the AR bandwagon with Apple.

Nike announced on 23 June that it has integrated AR features with the Nike+ SNKRS iOS app. This will make the launch and purchase of exclusive sneakers more interactive for its customers. Here's a short description of how it works:

The app can now hide the opportunity to purchase certain coveted sneakers within a select image where the sneakers can only be seen and unlocked by viewing the image via the camera function on SNKRS. First up: the Nike SB Dunk High Pro "Momofuku."

To purchase the Nike SB Dunk High Pro “Momofuku", users have to either view the Fuku East Village menu or an image of it through SNKRS. An interactive 3D model of the sneaker will be overlaid where there is an option to purchase it while stocks last.

Nike's entry to the AR world comes shortly after Ikea confirmed that it is working with Apple on an AR-based shopping app. AR is expected to be a major feature on the upcoming iPhone 8.
