Next-gen Apple iPhones to have Force Touch, 2GB RAM, 12MP camera and a new color?

The next generation Apple iPhone models are expected to retain the 4.7 and 5.5-inch display sizes.

KGI Securities just released a report revealing some alleged specs of Apple's next generation iPhones.

According to the securities firm, the upcoming iPhones (iPhone 6S and 6S Plus) will be equipped with Force Technology on their displays. This is not new as sources in the Asian supply chain claimed in January 2015 that the new iPhones could sport the same pressure-sensitive touch technology as the Apple Watch. The implementation of Force Touch on iPhone may allow new features to be introduced.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are said to come with significant upgrades in processing power (Apple's A9 chipset), RAM capacity (an increase to 2GB RAM), and a bump in camera resolution to 12 megapixel. In addition, Apple may be introducing a new color - rose gold for the new iPhones.

In line with reports from the Chinese media last month, Apple is considering the use of Series 7000 aluminum for the new iPhones to prevent a repeat of the bendgate saga which plagued the iPhone 6 Plus. Series 7000 aluminum, which is currently used to build the Apple Watch Sport, is touted to be 60% stronger than standard alloys.

Sapphire glass is also said to be used for the displays of special limited edition models of the iPhone 6S Plus. KGI Securities also shot down rumors of a new 4-inch iPhone model. Last, but not least, Apple has improved the Touch ID sensor as part of its plans to promote Apple Pay.

Mass production of the new iPhones is expected to commence in late August and KGI Securities expects to see Apple selling 80 to 90 million units by the end of the year.
