Just about a month ago, Microsoft announced a new gaming console called the Xbox One S. It will be an update to its Xbox One console.

And today, Microsoft has just announced that the US$399 2TB versions of the Xbox One S will go sale on August 2nd in limited quantities and in "select regions". Smaller 1TB and 500GB versions will hit stores at a later, unspecified date.

Unfortunately, Singapore isn't one of those "select regions". However, Microsoft did say that the Xbox One S will reach "additional markets later this year".

As for now, the regions that will be receiving on the Xbox One S on August 2nd are as follows: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States.

Most notably, the Xbox One S is substantially smaller than the Xbox One. It's a good 40% smaller and it even comes with an integrated power brick, which makes for a cleaner and sleeker install.

The Xbox One S will also provide more performance as it is the first console to support 4K and HDR. This means sharper videos with more vibrant colors.
