New Small Form Factor Z3ro Pro Computer Unveiled

The new Z3ro Pro Computer has been unveiled by Xi3 Corporation. This new small form factor desktop PC pushes the envelope by packing its computing capabilities into a tiny chassis that is roughly the size of a small paperback. The Z3ro Pro Computer made its debut at CES 2013 last week.

The system is powered by a dual-core x86-based processor that is 64-bit compliant. The processor is rated at 1.65GHz and features 2MB of L2 memory cache. Its other specifications include:

  • An integrated graphics processor (GPU) containing 80 graphics cores (or shaders)
  • 4GB of DDR3 RAM
  • 16GB to 1TB of internal solid-state SSD storage (with up to 12Gbps throughput speeds)
  • Two display ports providing maximum resolution of 2560x1600 (including 1 HDMI/DisplayPort v1.2 and 1 Mini-DisplayPort v1.2)
  • Four eSATAp 3.0 ports
  • 1Gigabit LAN port
  • Dimensions (L x B X H cm) : 12.4- x 9.2- x 4.8 cm

The Z3ro Pro Computer is competitively priced at US$399 and is ideal for meeting the computing requirements of homes and small offices without introducing too much clutter. The system operates at 15W of power and will with openSUSE Linux v11.2 as its operating system; however, it also supports other x86-based operating systems, which include Windows 8 and previous generations of Windows, Unix and other Linux variants.
