Symantec has announced the local availability of Norton Security. The main objective of the company is to streamline its protection software and services to meet the security requirements of an end-user. With its attractive subscription pricing on top of its straightforward product offerings, Symantec hopes to do just that.

Its new Norton Security software suite has three versions; Standard, Deluxe, and Premium. According to Symantec, Norton Security takes a “multi-layered” approach to protecting the end-user when he goes about his online activities with his device of choice. For start, the Norton Security Standard secures a single Windows or Mac OS PC. It also comes with a 100% guarantee that in the event of a protection breach, Symantec will offer a refund to the end-user. The Standard version costs S$39 for the first year subscription, and the subscription is recurring. For owners of multiple devices operating on different platforms, there are Deluxe and Premium versions to consider. The Deluxe version secures up to 5 devices that include PCs, tablets and smartphones, and it costs S$59 for a 1-year subscription. For S$99, the Premium version extends protection to a maximum of 10 devices for 365 days; you can also opt for a 5-device version (we are finding out the cost of this particular Premium version). This version is suited for families as it provides family safety features. In addition, it comes with a 25GB cloud storage service and tools for PCs only. For hassle-free management of the Norton software over the installation base, there's an easy-to-use web portal.

We also had the chance to speak with Gavin Lowth, Vice President, Norton Consumer and Small Business, Asia Pacific and Japan. He said that Symantec is well aware of the Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative. By offering end consumers the choice to secure their devices with the company’s product and services, Symantec is playing its part to provide a trusted and secure ICT platform where end-users can their devices to access, and contribute to, the resources of a “well-connected society” of our Smart Nation.
