Even though the Kindle is not sold or shipped to Singapore, that has not stopped techies and book lovers from picking up Amazon's e-reader on their globe-trotting expeditions. The popularity of the device was boosted when Amazon introduced a wireless only model priced at US$139. That price has now been slashed by a further US$25 with the introduction of a new Kindle that features on-screen advertisements.
arstechnica.com - Kindle director Jay Marine revealed the company's plans in an interview with the Associated Press on Monday afternoon. "It was very important that we didn't interfere with the reading experience," Marine told the publication, noting that ads would display across the bottom of the screen and on the Kindle's screen saver, but not while the user was reading a Kindle book. "We think customers are going to love it."
The new Kindle with Special offers will be available from 3rd May 2011 and will be selling for US$114. You can read the full story here.
