According to an announcement by Chromium OS project, all new Chromebooks launched this year will soon be able to install Android applications. This means Chromebooks made available for retail in 2017 will be soon able to download and operate Android applications, without being limited to the developers’ channel! In short, the new Chromebooks will have full access to Google Play.

For now, Android applications are available for the following devices:-

  • ASUS Chromebook Flip
  • Acer Chromebook R11 / C738T
  • Google Chromebook Pixel (2015)
