New Call of Duty Limited Edition PS4 unveiled

Like the the other limited edition PS4s, the Call of Duty Limited Edition PS4 also comes with its own custom controller.

The Call of Duty franchise is as mainstream as you can get, so much so that the majority of hardcore gaming scene looks down upon Call of Duty (CoD) players, even labeling them as CoD bros, a reference to the obnoxious collegiate bro culture which is the perceived demographic for the game. Not many games have earned this enmity, so fans of the series treat it as a badge of honor instead of the derogatory way it's meant to be. Due to that, the Call of Duty series falls squarely into the love it or hate it category for most gamers.

The Call of Duty Limited Edition PS4 falls squarely into this category too ironically, as it's a love it or hate it affair too. Unlike most other Limited Edition PS4s, the Call of Duty console will only feature the 'III' decal (taken from Black Ops III) and a slew of icons representing the game's various modes. Starting from the left, the SOG skull represents the  campaign, the Winslow Accord logo represents multiplayer, as it is one of the factions you can use in that mode. Finally, the 'Mark' denotes zombies, is a reference to the game's Zombie mode.

Apart from the decal (which can easily be bought on Ebay) and the icons, the power and eject buttons have also been spiffed up with a new orange paint job.

The custom PS4 DualShock 4 controller bundled with the console also adopts the console's color scheme, with orange dominating. While the main body will be grey (instead of black like the console), the digital and analog buttons will all be colored orange, similar to the III logo that's printed on the controller. If you're a fan of the controller but are unwilling to get a PS4 just to get it, the good news is that the custom controller will be available standalone too.

The US Limited Edition CoD Black Ops III PS4 console will also pack in other extras apart from its unique console and controller design. It'll come with a 1TB HDD, a copy of the the game and access to an bonus multiplayer map called Nuk3town.

Both the console and standalone versions of the game will be released on November 6th, which should be more enough time to decide if you want to get it. The bundle's already up for pre-order in the US, with a MSRP of US$449.99 (~$642). Sony promises a local release as well, though details of the bundle's contents, availability and price still remain unknown.
