The New BBM 6 Comes with App Integration

Research in Motion (RIM) unveiled the latest version of the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) 6 which integrates the instant messenger service with apps.

According to TechCrunch, BBM 6 users can continue to chat with their peers without closing their apps. Some of the BBM-integrated apps include Foursquare, ScoreMobile and Poynt. They can also share the content in real-time for free. Other highlights of BBM 6 are the support for draft BBM message, and enhanced Location Sending with customized search and sharing.

Although it is good to see RIM putting in time and effort to enhance BlackBerry services for its users, we feel that RIM can do much more to stop its declining market share. It remains to be seen how the transition to the QNX platform will help RIM stay in the game.
