Netflix introduces Fast.com, a tool to check your Internet speed
Connectivity to the Internet is very important for Netflix and the company has gone to great lengths to help its subscribers get the most out of their connection.
Less than two weeks ago, Netflix introduced mobile data management into its mobile app. This app helps subscribers manage their mobile data usage when streaming videos from Netflix.
And today, Netflix has just announced Fast.com, a tool for users to check their own Internet download speeds.
It works for broadband and mobile connections. Simply head to Fast.com and it will automatically start measuring your download speeds.
One thing to note is that it doesn't measure anything else other than your download speeds, so if you are wondering how fast you are uploading, you'll need to seek out other services.
David Fullager, Netflix's VP of Content Delivery Architecture, said, "We all want a faster, better Internet, yet Internet speeds vary greatly and can be affected by other users on your network or congestion with your Internet service provider. When you’re experiencing streaming issues, fast.com allows you to check the download speeds you’re getting from your Internet service provider."
So the next time you think your connection is slowing down, head over to Fast.com to see what's really going on.
