Teleport is a network routing technology by local fiber broadband service provider MyRepublic. Unlike a traditional VPN, it’s built into MyRepublic’s network, so there’s no complicated settings to configure and you don’t get slowed down unnecessarily when you aren’t streaming overseas content, say from Netflix, ITV, BBC, or TVB. Like how ViewQwest’s customers love the similar Freedom VPN service, we know of many MyRepublic customers who have only good things to say about Teleport.
Unlike ViewQwest’s Freedom VPN that is an add-on service (or comes bundled between 3 to 24 months depending on the plan you’ve signed up for), up till now, Teleport is offered to all MyRepublic’s fiber broadband subscribers. But the catch is this is only for a limited period, and for those who have signed up before May this year, the free offer will end on June 30. In other words, it too will become a paid add-on service.
Now, the day has come and passed. In case you’re wondering whether you can still use Teleport for free today (July 1), the answer is yes; and that’s because MyRepublic has extended the free promo period until August 30. But this is only valid if your free Teleport subscription was originally due to end on June 30.
After this date though, Teleport subscription will be available at a promotional rate of S$1.88/month (Teleport’s usual price is S$5/month) for the next 12 months if you have not chosen to opt out of Teleport. If you don’t want to continue using or subscribing to Teleport, you can always visit your MyAccount customer portal to disable the add-on subscription. Note too that although you can subscribe or unsubscribe Teleport anytime, the $1.88/month promotion will not be applicable if you unsubscribe and then change your mind later.
