MSI’s new Optix Mag displays come with 144Hz refresh rates and curved panels
MSI has announced a trio of new gaming monitors, all of which come with curved panels, high refresh rates, and fast response times.
These Optix Mag series monitors, as they’re called, include the 24-inch Optix MAG24C and the 27-inch Optix MAG27C and Optix MAG27CQ.
The 1800R curvature puts them in line with most of the other curved screens on the market, and since they use VA panels, you should enjoy better viewing angles and color reproduction over cheaper TN monitors.
And while VA panels aren’t usually known for having low latencies, MSI says it’s managed to achieve a 1ms response time on its new screens. In addition, all the monitors boast a speedy 144Hz refresh rate, so you should get a butter-smooth experience while gaming.
The Optix MAG24C and MAG27C feature fairly standard 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolutions and are claiming up to 110 per cent coverage of the sRGB color space. They also use a nearly frameless design on three sides, and the edge-to-edge screen makes them well-suited for use in multi-monitor setups.
The flagship Optix MAG27CQ uses a higher resolution 2,560 x 1,440-pixel panel, but the specifications are otherwise very similar to its siblings.
All the monitors support AMD FreeSync, and according to MSI, put out lower levels of blue light in order to reduce fatigue.
