MSI has revealed a brand new GeForce GTX 1080 Ti model at the Tokyo Game Show. This is a massive card that looks even larger than the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z, which already measures 320mm in length.

The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio is a triple-fan card that will definitely only fit into the most spacious of cases, and it unsurprisingly requires 2.5 slots instead of the usual two. The fans are double ball bearing Torx 2.0 models, but the middle fan is actually smaller at 90mm across, while the other two are 100mm. MSI's Tri-Frozr cooler is absolutely massive, measuring a good 325 x 140 x 48mm.

In addition, MSI redesigned the heatsink fins, and they now use what the company calls a "waved-curved" design that supposedly splits the airflow and increases the effective heat dissipation area by up to 10 per cent.

The card features a base clock of 1,569MHz and boost clock of 1,683MHz in OC Mode, while the memory has similarly been bumped up to a 11,124MHz effective clock. However, you'll need to download MSI's Gaming App to switch to OC Mode, and the card ships by default in Gaming Mode, which offers a 1,544MHz base clock and 1,657MHz boost clock.

In addition, it is powered by dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and shares the same display connector layout as the Lightning Z, with two HDMI, two DisplayPort 1.4, and one DVI-D port. That’s different from the Founders Edition model, which comes with three DisplayPort outputs and one HDMI connector.

The card also boasts a brushed metal backplate for extra structural reinforcement – it definitely looks like it needs it – which comes with an LED light bar for some extra pizzazz.

MSI will reportedly begin selling the Gaming X Trio on 12 October. We’ll update as soon as we have news on the local price.
