Mozilla launches privacy web browser for Android

FireFox Focus is now available on the Google Play store. If you enjoying browsing the web unfettered by data-hogging ads and prying web trackers, the minimalistic private browser by Mozilla would be a welcome addition to your Android OS smartphone.

Formerly available only to iOS users, the FireFox Focus provided parred down web-browsing experience is designed to exclude performance-debilitating elements that aren’t necessarily enhancing your mobile web surfing moments. According to Mozilla, the browser stops various web trackers to improve the phone’s web browsing performance, and it prevents trackers from doing their unsolicited work.

The app itself is bare. It doesn’t allow for multiple tabs and bookmarks, and customization is limited to the toggling of certain ‘allowable’ data and trackers in your window. The launch of the Android version also brought forth the ability to control its integrated ad-blocker (in case it broke a web page). It also offers a new counter that tells the user how many elements it has blocked thus far.

Finally, there’s an optional notification that reminds the user to wipe their browsing history.
