Motorola’s Razr flip phone might just be making a comeback

Remember the early 2000s when Motorola was unmistakably a force in mobile phones and the Motorola Razr was easily one of the coolest phones you could get your hands on? As you can see in the clip above, the teaser shows a typical high school with teenagers SMS-ing each other on their Razrs, in a totally retro setting. What’s interesting to note is that it ends with a “TTYL” card with the date June 9th,2016 – Motorola’s next mobile phone launch date, hinting perhaps, to a revival of the classic.

Wikipedia ranks the Motorola Razr V3 as the 9th best-selling mobile phone of all time, so an Android-powered Razr would certainly be a welcome sight to see at a time when every other smart phone looks the next. How they adapt the phone to provide the type of large high-resolution screen we’ve become accustomed to though, would certainly be an engineering puzzle worth solving.
