Marina Bay Sands (MBS) has been ranked the most Instagrammed hotel this year according to the social media app. In a conversation with Marketing, MBS' spokesperson shared that user-generated content on Instagram is an essential part of its organic content strategy which saw an exponential growth in fan base this year.

“We thank our guests and fans for making Marina Bay Sands the most Instagrammed hotel worldwide. We are truly grateful for this phenomenal organic, ground-up support from guests, celebs, media and influencers alike,” the spokesperson added.

Joining MBS in the top 5 list are Bellagio Las Vegas, The Venetian Las Vegas, Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, and MGM Grand Las Vegas. Rounding up the top 10 are The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, and Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel.

Preetham Venkky, director at KRDS Singapore, commented that it is important to plan a truly experience shareable experience when it comes to creating frequent user-generated content.

“MBS is neither a hotel nor a building. Rather, it is an iconic landmark that defines a destination – Singapore – and serves as a beacon to one’s social network. It is much like what the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower serve as to their respective destinations,” Venkky added.

While MBS is the top most Instagrammed hotel in the world, Singapore did not make it to the list of the top 10 most Instagrammed location in 2017. New York takes the lead followed by Moscow, London, Sao Paulo, Paris, Los Angeles, Saint Petersburg, Jakarta, Istanbul and Barcelona.
