More options for gamers! Origin PC releases the EON15-X and EON17-X locally

Origin PC's new EON17-X is as customizable as other similar notebook offerings, like those from Alienware or Aftershock.

Origin PC may not be as well known as Alienware or local custom PC giants Aftershock, but that's only because they're still relatively new. After Alienware was bought up by Dell late last decade,  high ranking members from the original Alienware team jumped ship and started Origin PC. Mainly based in the US, the company has expanded its reach to a global stage in recent years.

The EON17-X (17.3 inch) and the EON15-X (15.5 inch) are the latest two notebooks from the manufacturer. Like all other custom machines, you can mix and parts parts to create your own customized gaming rig, suited for your particular budget and needs. What sets the EON machines above most other notebooks is that they can use desktop processors instead of mobile versions. In this case, both of them will support unlocked desktop processors up to the Intel Core i7-4790K (4GHz). Considering that only the bleeding edge of notebooks use the mobile equivalent (Core i7-4890HQ, 4GHz) that's pretty impressive.

While you can pick and choose from a wide variety of parts for the other hardware required, Origin PC is only offering NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 970M or 980M graphics card to go along with the machines. Both versions will only have single card versions available, with no SLI version planned. As per the norm, expect the machines to be relatively heavy. In the press release, the given weights for the EON17-X is 8.59lbs and the EON15-X 7.49lbs, which is about 3.9 kilos for the EON17-X and 3.5 kilos for the EON15-X.

Both systems can be ordered through Origin PC's local website with the base price for the EON17-X being $3285 and the EON15-X at $3165.
