More DDR4 options for Skylake: Wide selection of HyperX Savage DDR4 modules now available
Kingston’s HyperX division has announced new Savage DDR4 memory kits, in capacities up to 128GB and with speeds ranging from the default 2,133MHz to 3,000MHz.
With the release of Z170 boards, in addition to more affordable H170, H110, and B150 boards from manufacturers, system builders looking to upgrade to Intel’s latest Skylake processor now have considerable options to choose from. All these new 100 series boards support DDR4 memory, so we’re happy to see a growing selection of DDR4 kits available.
The new Savage modules come with low-profile (32.8mm tall), asymmetrical aluminium heatspreaders and a matching black PCB.
Because they’re supported on even the lower-end chipsets like B150, HyperX is offering them in a wide range of configurations, including single-channel 4GB and 8GB modules. Dual- and quad-channel kits are also available, ranging from 8GB to 128GB.
Five clock speeds between 2,133MHz and 3,000MHz are available, with operating voltages starting at 1.2V for the lowest speed and going up to 1.35V for the highest. Incidentally, the highest specified voltage is still lower than DDR3’s 1.5V, which speaks volumes to the power efficiency benefits of making the swap to DDR4.
