Google and ASUS seems to building up a diverse range of accessories for the Nexus 7, as Mobilefun received information on five more upcoming official accessories. The five accessories a Bluetooth keyboard case, a rotating stand case, a folio case, a stand case and screen protector. Here's a brief description of the accessories:
Specifically designed for the Nexus 7, the precision cut-outs give you access to all ports without the hassle of removing the case when in use. It features a stylish leather effect for premium look and feel. Its estimated price is about S$44.50.
The built-in stand feature gives you the freedom to view your tablet in horizontal or vertical mode, hence increasing the viewing ability of the Nexus 7. It also makes it perfect for using the virtual keyboard while browsing the Internet or for consuming multimedia content on-the-go. It is slightly more expensive at an estimated price of S$54.
Similar to the Keyboard Folio Case for the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, ASUS has made a leather case with a built-in full QWERTY keyboard. It features quiet keypress technology, and is dust and spill-proof. The Bluetooth Keyboard Case is stated to last up to 45 hours on a single charge, and utilizes a microUSB cable for charging.
This should appeal to consumers who plan to type a lot on the Nexus 7. The Bluetooth Keyboard Case is estimated to cost you S$155, which is slightly more expensive than the S$129 Keyboard Folio Case for the Lenovo tablet.
A nice addition to the ASUS Travel Cover and Premium Cover, the Folio Case utilizes the Nexus 7's magnetic sensor the same way as Apple Smart Cover / Case for the iPad does - flip the case open to turn on the screen and vice versa. It has a soft interior microfibre lining that protects the screen from dirt and scratches, and features an integrated wallet for storage. The Folio Case double as a stand when you flip the cover to the back and positions the Nexus 7 in landscape mode. You can get the Folio Case at an estimated price of S$77.50.
Even though the 7-inch display of the Nexus 7 is reinforced with the scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass, you can bump up its protection with the official screen protector by ASUS which boasts an anti-scratch hard coating to keep scratches and abrasions at bay.
It is a 100% dry mount solution, which means that you do not need to apply any special adhesive glue or liquid. Moreover, the screen protector is manufactured from a high quality optical enhanced film to maintain high contrast and clear visibility of the display. It is also specifically designed to minimize the amount of fingerprints and smudges on the display. The official screen protector will set you back an estimated S$29.
In total, there are about eight official accessories for the Nexus 7 including the Travel Cover, Premium Cover and Nexus Dock we reported two days ago. According to Android Community, the five accessories will be available soon.
We've reached out to ASUS Singapore on whether the Google Nexus 7 will be launched here with any official accessories. A local spokesperson declined to comment on the issue.
