Like the Apple Watch, Apple's music streaming service is reportedly off to a good start one month after its launch.

According to music site Hits Daily Double, "inside sources at some of the major labels" claim that Apple has signed up more than 10 million subscribers in the first month for Apple Music. The figure was apparently shared internally by Apple. The rapid speed of adoption has caught both Apple and the music labels by surprise.

Hits Daily Double added that some music labels feel that Apple should reveal the subscriber base to encourage more people to sign up. At its recent quarterly earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that "millions and millions" had signed up for the music streaming service.

Apple Music is currently free for three months and it would be interesting to see how many of these trial users will convert to paid ones at the end of the trial. Spotify currently has about 20 million paid subscribers from its 75-million strong base.
