Microsoft will fix failing Surface Pro 3 batteries with a software patch
Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 may be over two years old, but there are still certain issues that Microsoft has yet to address. As it turns out, some Surface Pro 3 owners have reported battery degradation issues, which manifested as shorter than expected battery life.
Fortunately, Microsoft has now identified the problem as one that’s rooted in software, and is working on a fix that should rectify the issue.
In the meantime, the company advises against asking for a hardware replacement. But while this is good news for affected owners, it is less welcome for those who have already paid expensive replacement fees for new devices.
For now, Microsoft is still testing the fix and will publish it once it has passed its quality assurance process.
