Days after announcing that it would lay off 18,000 employees from Nokia Devices and Services unit and killing the Nokia X family of smartphones, Microsoft Devices Group announced its most affordable Lumia device to date, the Lumia 530.

Retailing at below 100 euros (approximately S$166 based on currency exchange rates at press time), the Lumia 530 will be available globally with roll-out beginning in select markets next month. The Lumia 530 comes in both single-SIM 3G and dual-SIM 3G models.

Running on Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan, the Lumia 530 sports a 4-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) LCD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 512MB RAM. Its 1,430mAh battery is stated to provide up to 22 days of standby and 13 hours of 2G talktime.

The Lumia 530 comes with 4GB internal storage space with microSD support up to 128GB. It also has changeable cover shells in bright orange, bright green, and stylish neutrals dark grey and white.
