Microsoft to unveil the Surface Pro 5 in Shanghai on 23 May
The Surface Pro 4, which was released in October 2015, is long overdue for a refresh. Microsoft knows it and we might be expecting to see its successor on 23 May. Even so, this comes as a surprise considering that the Surface Laptop with the Windows 10 S was barely launched days ago in an education themed event.
Microsoft has sent out invites for an event in Shanghai on 23 May where it "will show the world what's next". While the event invite does not reveal much about what to expect, Microsoft's Surface chief Panos Panay seems to have let the cat out of the bag with his tweet:
See you in Shanghai. May 23. #MicrosoftEvent #Surface https://t.co/aMgvkkqE52 pic.twitter.com/vzcK9MqIpf

The upcoming Surface Pro 5 is likely to be equipped with Intel's Kaby Lake 7th gen Core processors. It is not expected to come with a design overhaul according to tech journalist Paul Thurrott.
Surface Pro 5 will not change the Surface Connect power connector, I was just told. Kaby Lake, nothing dramatic.

Would it really have nothing more than minor updates? HardwareZone will be present at this event, so tune in to us for the full story.
